Do you have a touring one-to-one piece (or more than one)? What would you like to tell about it?
You and me in silence ( +name of the place and duration of the performance).
“I felt I was watching you by watching me, watching a human” (Roosa Halme)
In a black box, the visitor is invited to sit facing a one-way mirror.
She/he see me there, then discover her/himselves in a face-to-face encountering with her/himselves.
Gradually, a game unfolds between the two faces, merging into one another. This highlights similarities and differences, leading some to question:
Who am I? Who is the other? This “confusion” conveys a notion of intersubjectivity, that we don’t exist without “the other,” without the gaze of the other. The play of light then shifts back onto the other, who thus becomes, in a space considered theatrical, the actor of the performance for which they were initially a spectator. The performance duration for each spectator can vary from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the encounter.
It is generally conducted in silence, but I remain open to the various possible reactions.
The duration of my presence for this performance varies depending on the context.
Is there something else you want to share in this portal?
I’m actually developping a project which is called Arborofolio ( “tree leaf” in esperanto) This project involves collecting haikus from around the world, based on the theme of resistance (associated with the word “hope”), which I then type onto a tree leaf.
Once I’ve collected haikus from every corner of the planet, fingers crossed, I’d like to create a performance and an exhibition using the leaves. So, if you’d like to participate in this project, feel free to contact me by email and I’ll send you the details. Thank you! 🙂
