Nitish Jain is an India-born, Czechia-based artist creating intimate one-on-one, multi-sensory encounters. Drawing from phenomenology and Indian rasa aesthetics (denoting essence, flavor, or evocation), he explores non-visual atmospheres and invites audiences to “sense” rather than “only see” art—incorporating touch, taste, smell, listening, and vision in varied ways. His works carry a poetic sensibility, weaving metaphor, memory, and myth into subtle, layered reflections on post-coloniality, the Anthropocene, and the climate crisis. Using sensory methods, he addresses themes of fatigue and rest for both human and ecological well-being. www.nitish-jain.com

What is important for you to tell in this portal?
1. Sensory connection & care
I create intimate, multisensory one-to-one encounters that invite touch, smell, and taste to foster tenderness, curiosity, and care beyond the visual. My work offers space for slowing down, deep listening, and reimagining how we connect with ourselves, others, and our environment.
2. Postcolonial & queer perspectives
My one-to-one performances explore intimacy, otherness, and belonging through a queer, postcolonial lens. They create anonymous, embodied spaces where strangers can meet in vulnerability, dissolving barriers of race, gender, and identity.
3. Storytelling for the senses
I tell stories through the senses—blindfolds, textures, scents, tastes—turning myth, memory, and ecology into shared embodied experiences. Each encounter is a space for trust, presence, and mutual discovery.
4. Countering overstimulation
In a world of constant screens and distraction, I offer one-to-one experiences that awaken the senses, encourage stillness, and nurture human connection. My work is about being fully present—together.
